This is a what a speed table looks like.

  1. Over ten years ago we had our speed bump wars on Fairway Drive in Soquel. The arguments against them were exactly the same. The real reason people don't want speed bumps is that people hate change, they particularly hate change when other people make them change.
It was Christmas morning when the bumps were finally in and one of the speed bump haters sped by and screamed obscenities at us. It took about 6 months for their anger to die down and now people are just used to them. Some of the former anti-bump people are now safely walking their dogs on our quiet street. We never bring the subject up with them but I'll bet we'd have even more trouble removing those bumps now.

  2. Glad to hear that Fairway Drive in Soquel is safe to walk with children and dogs. Thanks to speed bumps.

In our neck of the woods (Rio del Mar), people don't know their neighbors. We need to be more comfortable with each other,i.e., connect names and faces and a bit about each other.

Hence, on Sunday, Nov 9 towards the end of Florence Drive and Cliff Drive the Jacksons & other families will host a "Say Hello" to neighbors at 2 pm for an hour or so So we can get better acquainted in an informal, neighborly way.

Anyone living o nearby streets is welcome! Call if you want more info. Cameron Smith Jackson 688-6002 For more information go to Monterey Bay Forum www.freedomOK.net/wordpress
